Expat Tax Advice From Trewtax

Trevor Wilkes uses his deep technical knowledge of HMRC rules to provide tax advice for expatriates.   His services range from advising on residency status and completion of tax returns to calculating capital gains tax and checking your tax code.

Expat Tax Residency Status

If you are working or living overseas then you may still need to submit a UK tax return to HM Revenue & Customs.  The first thing you need to do is determine your tax residency status, and Trewtax can advise on this as well as you may be a tax resident in the UK even if you live elsewhere.

Contact Options

There are plenty of contact options to discuss your tax plans and calculations.  We offer access to your tax advisor by email, phone, Skype, Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Making the most of your circumstances

Trewtax will review capital gains prior to the sale of assets to ensure the minimum tax is payable.  We will calculate the maximum contributions for personal pension plans purposes and advise on tax efficient gifting.

Where relevant we will review your residence and domicile and can provide access to a financial planning and estate planning practitioner.

We recommend tax efficient strategies to produce potential tax savings.

HMRC Random Enquiry

HMRC can randomly raise an enquiry into anyone’s self assessment tax return.  This can occur within a 12 month period following the tax return filing deadline.  If selected, it will be necessary to review the reason for the enquiry and decide whether this can be handled within the fee paid for the tax return completion service or whether this is handled separately as an advisory piece of work with a new engagement letter being issued.
